CVE-2026-119336 2026-10-30 7.8 High
Pi-hole is a DNS sinkhole that protects devices from unwanted content without installing any client-side software. From 6.4.2 until 6.5, the root-run advanced/Scripts/updatecheck.sh cron job applies truncate -s 0 and chmod 644 to /etc/pihole/versions while following symbolic links in a directory owned by the pihole user. An attacker executing as pihole can replace that path with a symlink so the scheduled root operations truncate or create an arbitrary root-owned file, or race the operations so chmod makes a sensitive target world-readable without truncating it. This issue is fixed in version 6.5.
CVE-2026-119334 2026-10-30 2.2 Low
Pi-hole is a DNS sinkhole that protects devices from unwanted content without installing any client-side software. Prior to 6.5, gravity.sh checks file:// adlist readability with sudo -u pihole test -r but then allows curl, sometimes running as root, to normalize URL dot segments and open a different file. A pihole-readable decoy can therefore pass the check while curl reads a root-only target, and /proc/self paths can similarly resolve against different processes. Exploitation requires an administrator who can add adlists and can place a symlink and decoy on the filesystem. This issue is fixed in version 6.5.
CVE-2026-116250 2026-10-30 6.5 Medium
In server mode pgAdmin 4 validates a path a user gives for a file in their storage directory with check_access_permission() and then opened it by name. Several places opened it with a plain open() or handed the path to a utility that opened it later: the servers.json export and import and the import file listing, and the files given to pg_dump, pg_dumpall, pg_restore and psql by Backup, Restore and Import/Export Data. A symbolic link swapped in at the file or at any parent directory between the check and the open redirected the operation outside the storage directory, so a file could be written, overwritten or read, or loaded into a table, as the operating-system account running pgAdmin. A hard link to an outside file, which O_NOFOLLOW does not detect, and a FIFO, which could hang a request, had the same effect. CVE-2026-86861 fixed this for the File Manager's save_file; these were the remaining paths. Exploitation requires creating such a link or FIFO inside the user's storage directory. pgAdmin offers no way to do so, and the per-user storage directories belong to the pgAdmin account, so this requires write access to the storage backend as a different operating-system user, for example a shared or network-mounted storage directory, and winning the race. The fix opens each file by walking down from the storage directory one component at a time with O_NOFOLLOW, accepting only a regular file with one link, and passes the utilities the open descriptor (/dev/fd/N) on Linux. Error messages no longer include the server path. This issue affects pgAdmin 4: before 9.19.
CVE-2026-119168 1 Hashicorp 2 Nomad, Nomad Enterprise 2026-10-30 8.8 High
HashiCorp Nomad and Nomad Enterprise are vulnerable to symlink following during same-client allocation data migration that may allow a malicious workload to change permissions and ownership of host directories. This could allow unauthorized access to host data or modification of host files, potentially leading to privilege escalation. This vulnerability (CVE-2026-119168) is fixed in Nomad 2.1.1 and Nomad Enterprise 2.1.0, 1.11.12, and 1.10.18.
CVE-2026-115709 1 Elastic 1 Elastic Cloud Enterprise 2026-10-30 8.2 High
Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') (CWE-59) in Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) can lead to unauthorized disclosure and loss of data belonging to other deployments on the same host via Symlink Attack (CAPEC-132).
CVE-2026-115708 1 Elastic 1 Elastic Cloud Enterprise 2026-10-30 7.2 High
Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') (CWE-59) in Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) can lead to authentication bypass and unauthorized changes to the configuration of other deployments on the same host via Symlink Attack (CAPEC-132).
CVE-2026-107347 1 Hashicorp 2 Nomad, Nomad Enterprise 2026-10-30 8.4 High
HashiCorp Nomad and Nomad Enterprise are vulnerable to symlink following during dispatch payload and executor log writes that may allow a malicious workload to modify files outside its allocation directory. When the client agent runs as root, this could lead to code execution as root on the client host. This vulnerability (CVE-2026-107347) is fixed in Nomad 2.1.1 and Nomad Enterprise 2.1.0, 1.11.12, and 1.10.18.
CVE-2024-9341 2 Containers, Redhat 5 Common, Enterprise Linux, Openshift and 2 more 2026-10-30 5.4 Medium
A flaw was found in Go. When FIPS mode is enabled on a system, container runtimes may incorrectly handle certain file paths due to improper validation in the containers/common Go library. This flaw allows an attacker to exploit symbolic links and trick the system into mounting sensitive host directories inside a container. This issue also allows attackers to access critical host files, bypassing the intended isolation between containers and the host system.
CVE-2013-0261 2 Openstack, Redhat 3 Essex, Folsom, Openstack 2026-10-30 8.8 High
A flaw was found in PackStack. A local user could exploit a symlink attack on a temporary file with a predictable name in the `/tmp` directory. This vulnerability allows the local user to overwrite arbitrary files on the system, potentially leading to system compromise or data corruption.
CVE-2026-72694 2 Mrtgconfig, Redhat 8 Mrtg, Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus and 5 more 2026-10-30 7.1 High
A flaw was found in MRTG. When the MRTG daemon is started as a root user and subsequently drops privileges, a local, low-privileged attacker can exploit a symbolic link (symlink) following vulnerability. By influencing or pre-placing a symlink in the process ID (PID) file path, the attacker can trick the root process into changing the ownership of an arbitrary existing file to the daemon user. This can lead to local privilege escalation, allowing unauthorized access to or modification of sensitive files.
CVE-2026-92205 1 Busybox 1 Busybox 2026-10-30 6.1 Medium
BusyBox libarchive Symlink Directory Traversal Arbitrary File Creation Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to create arbitrary files on affected installations of BusyBox. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the libarchive component. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to create files in the context of the current user. Was ZDI-CAN-27556.
CVE-2026-119364 1 Proftpd 1 Proftpd 2026-10-30 5.3 Medium
ProFTPD through 1.3.9e and 1.3.10rc1 through 1.3.10rc4 contains a link-following vulnerability in mod_copy that allows authenticated FTP users to bypass Limit WRITE restrictions via symlinks. Attackers can place a symlink in a writable directory and use SITE COPY or SITE CPTO to overwrite files in write-denied locations.
CVE-2026-114462 1 Velneo 1 Vserver 2026-10-30 N/A
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') vulnerability in Velneo vServer. This issue affects vServer: from 32.3 before 36.6 and from 37.1 before 37.2.
CVE-2026-119291 2026-10-30 5.5 Medium
Zuke is a code-first, strongly typed build automation system for Deno. Prior to 1.4.0, @zuke/cli uses lstat to inspect scaffold names but then performs link-following reads, writes, and permission changes in zuke setup and zuke import. An attacker who supplies an untrusted cloned repository, template, or archive with a symbolic link at a scaffolded name can cause setup to overwrite a target outside the selected directory with the invoking user's permissions. The .gitignore path requires no flag, while --force permits a linked launcher target to be written and made executable; import can also read link-target content and incorporate it into the generated build file. This issue is fixed in version 1.4.0.
CVE-2026-119704 2026-10-30 6.8 Medium
Bastille through 1.4.4 contains a symlink following vulnerability in the cp.sh, rcp.sh and jcp.sh subcommands that allows jailed users to escape jail isolation. Attackers inside a jail can plant symlinks pointing to host paths or other jail roots, so administrator-run copies overwrite or read host files with root privileges.
CVE-2026-115713 1 Elastic 1 Elastic Cloud Enterprise 2026-10-30 7.5 High
Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') (CWE-59) in Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) can lead to unauthorized read and write access to data of other deployments on the same host via Symlink Attack (CAPEC-132).
CVE-2026-118990 2026-10-30 N/A
CallBackery versions before 0.62.0 for Perl leave a world-readable dump of the configuration database in /tmp when taking a configuration backup. getConfigBlob() has the sqlite3 shell write the dump to /tmp/cbdump<pid> and never removes it. The file takes the process umask, and a symlink planted at that predictable name is followed. The dump holds every user's password hash and every value saved by the application's forms. A local user can read these after any backup, and may redirect the dump to a file of their choosing.
CVE-2026-18508 2 Gnu, Redhat 8 Tar, Discovery, Enterprise Linux and 5 more 2026-10-30 4.4 Medium
A flaw was found in GNU tar. When extracting an archive with the --one-top-level option, hardlink targets are not confined to the designated top-level directory and may resolve relative to the extraction working directory. A crafted archive can create hardlinks that escape the intended boundary and, when combined with a preexisting symbolic link under the working directory, may allow writing outside that boundary during a single extraction.
CVE-2026-90313 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-30 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, cgroup: Fix invalid storage access after __cgroup_bpf_attach failed A potential invalid storage access issue can occur after replacing a cgroup bpf prog. This occurs in the following scenario: 1. prog1 with storage is attached to a cgroup in multi-attach mode. 2. prog1 is replaced with prog2 using BPF_F_REPLACE in multi-attach mode, but fails midway (e.g. in bpf_trampoline_link_cgroup_shim or update_effective_progs). 3. A new prog3 is attached to the cgroup in multi-attach mode. The reason is that __cgroup_bpf_attach overwrites pl->storage with the new storage prior to attachment completion. When attachment fails midway, the cleanup path calls bpf_cgroup_storages_free(new_storage) to free the newly allocated storage, but fails to restore pl->storage back to old_storage. Consequently, the still-active prog1 holds invalid or dangling storage pointers, leading to an invalid memory access when prog1 executes and calls bpf_get_local_storage. Additionally, original pl->flags and cgrp->bpf.flags[atype] are left unrestored. Fix this by saving old_pl_flags, old_storage, and old_flags prior to the update, and properly restoring all of them in the cleanup path on error.
CVE-2026-89920 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-30 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: s390: Fix memory corruption by not reinjecting CK machine checks Channel-subsystem damage machine checks are for the host channel subsystem. The guest channel subsystem is emulated in the userspace VMM. There is no point in forwarding such machine checks into the guest. This also simplifies the machine check reinjection and avoids kfree of a stack variable as reported by sashiko. There might be still machine checks that have the ck bit set with another bit (like instruction damage), mask out the CK bit in s390_backup_mcck_info(), like the CP and ED bits already are.
